18 sec still act

moving image loop 18” HD, HU 2020

still act

„to initiate the subject in a different relationship with temporality.

Stillness operates at the level of the subject’s desire to invert a certain relationship with time, and with certain (prescribed) corporeal rhythms. Which means that to engage in stillness is to engage into different experiences of perceiving one’s own presence.”

/André Lepecki/

Lethe, (Greek: “Oblivion”), in Greek mythology, daughter of Eris (Strife) and the personification of oblivion. Lethe is also the name of a river or plain in the infernal regions.

In Orphism, a Greek mystical religious movement, it was believed that the newly dead who drank from the River Lethe would lose all memory of their past existence.

Victoria DONNET (FR)

A pluridisciplinary artist, Victoria Donnet invites cinema and dance to intertwine in original in situ performance projects and audiovisual works. Sustained by her training in contemporary dance at IFPRO (Paris), cinema at ESRA (Paris) and in Life Art Process at the Tamalpa Institute with Anna Halprin (California), she proposes a sensitive work concerning movement in all its dimensions, in association with the being and nature surrounding her. Her creations form part of her research involving space, matter, time and energy in dance: to dance the world and its images. She films dance, dances with the camera, creates choreography with the body as well as with the film-editing technique, and thereby opens up new fields of experimentation. In 2018/19 she facilitates videodance workshops to contemporary dancers in ACTS (Contemporary Dance School of Paris). She recently collaborates with Philippe Decouflé as the script and editor of his last short film "VIVALDIS", projected in January 2020 on the TV channel Canal +.

Réka SZŰCS (HU)

filmmaker, dance film researcher, lecturer, curator

Born in Pécs, Hungary, 1981. Currently lives and works in Budapest, Hungary.

She is a charter member and the artistic director of the SAFE Contemporary Art Studio. Her field of research is the aesthetics of contemporary dance films.

Her experimental short films (for which she often uses cine-film), are choreographic works without dialogue that deconstruct the narrative systematically. They are dance films, if you like.
